The best way to use castor oil for eyebrows

Praised in cosmetics for the beauty of the skin and hair, castor oil has many beneficial properties. Whether it is to nourish the scalp, lengthen the eyelashes and strengthen the nails, it is one of the essential beauty products to always have on hand. But did you know it can also help thicken eyebrows? Explanations.

Castor oil for eyebrows: how to use it to thicken them

Castor oil is a natural beauty secret for the care of facial skin and hair. Known for its restorative and protective abilities, it also promotes hair growth. An indisputable asset for nourishing the eyebrows and making them denser and more beautiful. We explain how to use it with the advice of naturopath Amelia Mounier.

What is castor oil?

Produced from castor seeds, I have used this oil for millennia for its virtues on the skin, thanks to its richness in fatty acids and vitamin E. When cold-pressed, its seeds give a fatty and viscous liquid. Rich in therapeutic, purifying, and nourishing properties. Also called castor oil or Ricinus communis oil by its scientific name, it is the most popular vegetable oil and the most used in beauty care, thanks to its active substances. According to the naturopath Amelia Mounier, this oil is used purely in cosmetic applications on the skin, the hair, the nails or the eyelashes, and the eyebrows on which it produces a great effect thanks to its rich in omega 9. The viscosity which characterizes this oil makes it special. In addition, we concentrate this oil on ricinolein acid, which gives it antibacterial and antifungal properties. It also helps remove dead skin that can clog hair follicles and suffocate hair that cannot grow normally. Its vitamin E also helps improve blood circulation and thus stimulates hair growth in the bulb. You will understand, castor oil helps to cleanse the scalp and hydrate, thicken, strengthen and speed up the growth of hair, eyelashes, and even eyebrows.

What are its benefits for the eyebrows?

For a variety of reasons, the eyebrows can thin out and become sparse. Like the scalp, this hairy part of the face can lose density and it sometimes becomes difficult to display a well-defined and healthy arch, thus affecting the harmony of the eyes and the face. Castor oil is one of our grandmothers' first secrets to easing this inconvenience. And the virtues of this beauty oil are well established.

It thus speeds up the growth of eyelashes but also of the eyebrows, by allowing them to be well hydrated. It is therefore a natural solution to maintain your eyebrows, even if no study has proven its virtues in this context. However, it has been used for millennia and prized for its hair regrowth benefits since ancient Egypt. It is even said that Cleopatra used it to remove makeup and illuminate her eyes.

To apply this oil to the eyebrows, it is important to choose it cold-pressed and organic. Cold pressing guarantees better preservation of its properties and therefore a better quality product. It is also important that it is pure because when mixed with other oils, it can cause allergies. To make sure, you can put a little oil on the arm and wait 24 hours to check if there is a potential allergy risk.

For eyelashes, the naturopath explains that this oil helps speed up eyelash regrowth as it does for hair. They also incorporated it into the composition of certain skincare mascaras.

How to apply it to the eyebrows?

Before using it, you must first remove make-up from your face and eyes. Use the stem of a clean mascara you soak in this oil, then brush the eyebrows delicately, avoiding putting too much of it because of its viscous texture. Then massage your eyebrows in circular motions with your finger to disperse the oil.

You can also use a cotton swab to smear castor oil on the eyebrows if you don't have a mascara applicator. Just soak the stick in this oil and apply it to the eyebrows, massaging them with your finger.

If you don't have a cotton swab or mascara applicator, you can simply apply the product directly with your finger. Put a few drops on the index finger and rub the eyebrows, massaging for a few minutes.

Castor oil being thick, just apply 2 drops to each eyebrow and distribute them over the entire arch of the foot. This treatment is to be applied daily at bedtime. When you wake up, this oil will be absorbed and your hair will be stronger and shinier. Incredible results will be visible after two or three weeks and you see your brows are growing in density in a lightning way.

What are the other benefits of castor oil?

  • For hair

If the dense and syrupy aspect of castor oil discourages some people, the naturopath explains that the viscosity of this oil allows filling the scales of the hair to repair it in depth. The specialist advises it in the local application for problems of alopecia, hair loss because of hormonal imbalance, or after chemotherapy.

Applied on the lengths, this oil helps strengthen the hair thanks to its antioxidants capable of strengthening the keratin of the hair. Likewise, it helps fight dandruff and scalp irritation, which can slow hair growth.

Applied in massage on the scalp but also on the lengths, it will bring strength and shine to frizzy hair. Mixed with argan oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil, its effects will only be increased tenfold.

Be careful, however, if you have oily hair, it is advisable to avoid applying it directly to the scalp, which could weigh down thinner hair. Here, a few drops are enough to nourish the damaged ends and lengths.

Apply the product depending on your hair and leave this mask on for at least 30 minutes or overnight, once a week. You'll say goodbye to frizz and unruly hair, and your mane will gain smoothness and suppleness, especially if you use repetitive hair color or expose your hair to the sun often.

  • For the nails,

Castor oil makes the nails stronger and stronger and makes them grow in a dizzying way. Plus, it helps soften cuticles when applied during a manicure or at night before bed. The naturopath specifies that its viscous texture will permeate the nail and thus promote the repair of brittle, ridged, or soft nails. Castor oil is also present in certain varnishes, called repair serum.

What about the skin?

We can use castor oil on an ad hoc basis on dry skin called crocodile skin and also helps to treat eczema and burns, as relayed by our colleagues at Docetism. Applied to the hand, it would have anti-wrinkle properties to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin. It would also have the merit of reducing dark spots, dark circles, and reducing acne pimples, thanks to its antibacterial properties.
